Pre-packaged fruit & nut snacks can come with ingredients that you don't want (for example, an excessive amount of salt). So, make your own, that way you can control what goes into the snack. We suggest purchasing the following fruit & nut items separately in bulk - and then combining them in one cup portions. When you're choosing your nuts - only choose one variety that's salted and the others unsalted (we suggest the peanuts).
Suggested Ingredients
- almonds
- pecans
- Walnuts
- Roasted salted peanuts
- Dried apples
- Dried cranberries
- Dried pineapples
- Dried apricots
- Dried blueberries
Mix a cup of each in large bowl and gently stir it up. Spoon 1/2 cup servings into zip-lock bags. Makes 18 servings.
Be sure your children are not allergic to any of the ingredients!
